Position Description: Summary

Metropolitan State University of Denver is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and supportive employee experience that focuses on career sustainability and attracting and retaining top talent. Thisposition will play a key role on the total rewards team by assisting in the day-to-day administration of the university's employee benefit, leave and wellbeing programs. The total rewards team is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive total rewards package.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

45% Administration of Leave

  • Track and monitor varying employee classes monthly absence requests and time entries for leave eligible employees. This includes leaves such as annual leave, sick leave, bereavement leave, jury duty, etc.
  • Assists with the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave administration process. Beginning with the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes advising and collecting required paperwork, determining leave eligibility and designating leave.
  • Stay updated on federal and state leave laws to ensure accurate leave administration.
  • Maintains communication with employees on leave to facilitate timely return to work.
  • Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on university leave policies and procedures for varying employee classes.

25% Employee Wellbeing

  • Assist in designing, recommending and implementing an employee wellbeing program to promote the eight dimensions of wellbeing. These dimensions include emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental and financial.
  • Develop content host/create wellbeing sessions to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Provide individual consultations on referrals to internal and external resources.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

15% Communication

  • Effectively interpret and communicate the full range of the University's total rewards package
  • Creates communication content, including but not limited to Workday trainings, presentations, one pagers, etc.
  • Continuously update the Total Rewards website

15% Employee Benefits

  • Assist in administering the university's benefit and retirement programs for various employee classes.
  • Assists with Employee Tuition Benefit Program
  • Assist with day-to-day handling of new hire enrollments and qualifying status changes.
  • Provide support during the open enrollment process and assist with communication to employees regarding benefits options.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws, minimum 2 year of experience
  • Experience processing FMLA and FAMLI claims, minimum 2 year of experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience with an employee wellbeing program
  • Previous experience making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive and confidential issues

Work Hours

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, Exempt
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00 pm
  • Evening and Weekend Work: 1-2 times per year
  • Hybrid - in-person attendance varies but will be required
  • No travel required

Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $65,000 - $72,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
