Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support the documentation and communication needs of the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN-N) Wireless Lifecycle Refresh and Expansion effort across six USMC installations. This role is vital in producing clear, accurate, and compliant technical documentation to support the delivery of wireless modernization services under the PEO Digital ISTC Program Office.

The Technical Writer will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and government stakeholders to develop and maintain a variety of documents, including engineering design packages, installation guides, system configuration records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and contract deliverables. This role ensures that all technical content is precise, user-friendly, and aligned with contract requirements and cybersecurity standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-versed in technical writing best practices, and capable of translating complex technical information into understandable, actionable documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

    Write technical copy for manuals, user guides, and training materials
  • Explain technical ideas in simple language
  • Write clear and concise policies that align with developed procedures
  • Author original content for all required plans and test procedure deliverables (e.g., system acceptance plans, cybersecurity test plans, safety acceptance plans, new software and hardware installation, operation, and maintenance manuals) ensuring consistency in style and content with documents used for similar purposes
  • Partner with engineering and management services to research, outline, write, and edit information technology network engineering content
  • Analyze and translate complicated, technical information into clear, direct, and concise documents to be used by audiences with varying technical expertise
  • Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology
  • Submit drafts for technical review and edit to accommodate requested changes to ensure the clarity, completeness, accuracy, and quality of documents created
  • Reviews and revises documents written by various personnel in keeping with specified document formats and language
  • Support the development and execution of cross-training plans to ensure continuity of operations, staff development, and optimal product quality
  • Act as primary point of contact for training and development programs and resources
  • Provide metrics and other information on training, licensing, and learning efforts as requested
  • Support project organization and delivery of technical training and related materials
  • Monitor and analyze course metrics, respond to feedback and questions from the training attendees as required
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills when facing impediments
  • Support Nakupuna Companies with pipeline management and development/execution of growth strategies; support business development efforts, including RFI responses, proposal, bid-board preparation, and proposal responses as required
  • Support the Facilities and Infrastructure Services Director with past performance write-ups and documenting client successes accordingly


Qualifications

Education and Experience: This position requires a bachelor's degree in relevant technical or communications field with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to comprehend, analyze, and synthesize complex technical information. It is highly desired that the Technical Writer has an understanding and experience of telecommunications, networking, voice and data, structured cabling projects, and IT systems.

The following experience is required:

  • 6+ years of technical writing experience in a related field
  • Strong experience owning an end-to-end documentation creation process
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Experience with creating/using styles and templates
  • Mastery of English grammar, syntax, and formatting
  • Experience reviewing and editing work products written by other team members

Military Installation Access: This position may require access to military installations. Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass. Must be able to obtain a favorable National Security Agency Check (NACI) including a FBI fingerprint check.

Clearance: This position requires an active Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
