The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking (1) an experienced Research Associate II in the Viral Immunology Center. This position will be responsible for participating in the design and execution of research projects.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking to hire an experienced Research Associate II. This position will serve as an oversight manager for incoming samples, triaging, testing assignments, test review-1st level, and a senior technologist for clinical sample analyses. The essential duties and responsibilities of Research Associate II are as follows:




  • Unpacking, triage, test/assay assignment, assay review, and point-of-contact for the Clinical Laboratory Director who will perform final review and brief candidate regarding any tests that must be repeated or controls that must be prepared. The candidate will also follow through with staff access to each of the areas required in the diagnostic lab.
  • Oversee the documentation of all reagents in conjunction with the Research Scientist, as well as oversee the quality control testing for all new antigens and serum pools.
  • The supervisor will ensure that Submission Forms are completed, samples are triaged correctly, results are concordant with controls, samples storage and inventory are performed, and in coordination with the Clinical Lab Director, will oversee any re-testing or additional testing that is needed.
  • The supervisor will also perform testing and rotate through each assay to best determine that the highest quality assays are being performed with the highest quality reagents. The candidate will amend any SOPs as necessary, oversee records for lot numbers for commercial reagents, and preparation logs for in-house buffers and other reagents used for testing.
  • All instrumentation will have appropriate calibration assessments and records maintained for calibrations, including but not limited to platereaders, plate washers, robotics, pipets, PCR instruments, spectrophoto- metric instrumentation, hoods, incubators, water baths, freezers, refrigeration gases, liquid Nitrogen, pipettors, computers, scanners, barcoders, and PPE.
  • The candidate will attend the weekly diagnostic meetings as well as diagnostic/research meetings (weekly) to present data regarding the listed assignments, problems, STATS, corrective actions for delays in testing, and overall accomplishments.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Master's degree in Biology or Clinical Diagnostics with two years of experience.
