We are seeking a Medical Secretary at Lowell General Hospital's Pain Clinic. This is a great opportunity to work close to home in a family friendly community hospital. Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time Shifts times: 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm Location: Lowell General Hospital- Saints Campus -Pain Clinic Job Overview This position provides administrative support and performs office and clerical tasks. Assists callers, takes messages, manages calendars, places purchasing orders, files, and organizes. Minimum Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. One (1) year of related experience. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Three (3) years of related experience. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 1. Employs professional communication skills with staff members, physicians, private office staff, patients and patient families. 2. Maintains an orderly office environment, establishes and maintains any needed filing system. 3. Reports all equipment problems to the Director/designee. 4. Triages incoming telephone calls, providing caller with appropriate information or referring calls to staff members. 5. Provides support in functional areas. 6. Carries out special projects. 7. Requisitions supplies and services from various hospital departments as required. 8. Coordinates, generates, and distributes department reports in an accurate and timely manner access. Physical Requirements: 1. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. 2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending/descending stairs and operating office equipment. 3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate and exchange information. 4. Ability to see and read computer displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Skills & Abilities: 1. Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks and prioritize according to established criteria and protocols. 2. Good organizational and communication skills, both verbal (in-person and with telephone phone) and written. 3. Good computer skills using Microsoft office including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. 4. Ability to write and spell to ensure accurate message taking. 5. Excellent interpersonal skills are required and changing deadlines and the adaptability to change. 6. Ability to work under pressure and changing deadlines and the adaptability to change required. 7. Knowledge of office equipment, such as printers and fax machines.
