Description

Primary Job Function

Set ups, adjusts and operates a laser machine and punch to perform such operations as laser cutting, punching, blanking, shearing, forming, and drawing to make parts according to print.

Note: This position operates on our Swing Shift (2:15pm - 10:45pm), Monday through Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Follows department standard operating procedures.
  • Empties scrap bins.
  • May instruct and direct the work of less experienced operators.
  • Approves parts for other operators.
  • Follows established safety protocols including required usage of PPE; helps to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Performs periodic preventive maintenance.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Punch



  • Coordinates tool changes, selecting proper punch tolerances and die clearances and indexing tool stations accurately.
  • Deburrs parts as needed, protecting finished parts per cosmetic requirements.
  • Inspects and sharpens dies and punches for good tool utilization.
  • Communicates tooling needs as determined from new or revised product and suggests improvements to make the punch work centers productive and efficient.
  • Positions, aligns and secures punches and dies or die members; adjusts ram stroke and material stop gauges; sets stripper or ejecting mechanism.
  • Works from drawings, patterns, templates, or samples; produces samples for inspection; adjusts to secure required dimensions and quality and produces runs within desired times.
  • Maintains tools and machines; perform periodic preventive maintenance.
  • Writes small programs.


Laser



  • Sets up and operates machines, loads blanks, dries parts, uses overlays, loads programs, adjusts offsets, changes feed rates, adjusts pierce times.
  • Cuts different parts, uses prints, aligns nozzle and uses controller.
  • Shears a wide variety of parts to close tolerances of length, width, parallelism and angle cut.
  • Makes plan and aligns for most economical use of material
  • Trouble-shoots cutting.
  • Cleans cutting head.
  • Shakes & stacks parts.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Minimum skills, knowledge, education, certifications and related job experience that employee typically must have to perform essential functions of the job acceptably.



  • Previous Laser and/or Punch experience required.
  • Print reading skills
  • Ability to properly use measuring tools, calipers, calculator, tape measure and allen wrenches.
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependability; honesty & integrity; a positive, proactive attitude; ability to use time productively, working with minimal supervision both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work overtime as required

Pay and Benefits

Starting pay for this position is $19/hour - Higher Pay Available Based on Experience!

Our pay ranges are guided by the discipline, level, and experience required. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including desired skills/ technical competency, relevant experience, and advanced education/ training.

Signing Bonus

To welcome you to our team and show our commitment to your success, we are offering a signing bonus of $500.00! This bonus will be awarded in two installments, 50% upon successful completion of probationary period and the balance paid upon completion of one year of service with IMC.
