Columbia University's Department of Economics and Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies (IIJS) seek to fill a chair in the Economics of the Middle East. We seek scholars in any area of economics (e.g., macroeconomics, labor economics, economic history) whose research includes engagement with Israel in the context of the Middle East and with regional issues. Successful candidates will be willing to teach undergraduates in this area and train and mentor interested graduate students. The appointment can be at any tenure-track rank, Assistant Professor, tenure track or tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor, to begin as early as July 1, 2026. Review begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Ph.D., outstanding publication record, proven excellence as a teacher.
