Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director, Financial Reporting and Fixed Asset Accounting to lead and manage the financial reporting function and oversee the accounting and management of the company's fixed assets. This key leadership position will ensure accurate financial statements, compliance with accounting principles, and provide strategic insights into the company's fixed asset investments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, and managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. This leader will oversee a team of five, including two direct reports. Responsibilities: 1.Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation, review, and timely delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant financial reporting regulations.
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and supporting schedules.
- Develop and maintain reporting procedures, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the company's financial reports.
- Manage the quarter-end and year-end close reporting processes, ensuring the timely completion of all financial reporting activities, including lender and management reporting.
2.Fixed Asset Accounting:
- Direct the accounting and management of the company's fixed assets, including asset capitalization, depreciation, and impairment.
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the accurate tracking, recording, and reporting of fixed assets.
- Manage fixed asset reconciliations and conduct regular reviews to ensure that fixed asset records are up to date and accurate.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting for new acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and other changes to the fixed asset portfolio.
- Oversee the preparation of fixed asset schedules for audit and tax compliance purposes.
3.Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of accountants responsible for financial reporting and fixed asset accounting.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to staff to foster professional growth and ensure adherence to best practices.
4.Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls related to financial reporting and fixed asset management.
- Support the audit process, including external audits, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including tax and financial reporting requirements.
5.Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial reporting and fixed asset accounting processes to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Leverage technology and automation to streamline accounting processes and reporting.
6.Strategic Decision Support:
- Provide financial insights and analysis to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making related to capital expenditures, asset management, and financial performance.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses to assist with special projects and management requests.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) License Required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or fixed asset management, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficient in technical accounting research
- Proven track record of managing financial reporting and accounting teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear, actionable financial insights.
- Ability to work from our Chicago Corporate Headquarters on a hybrid-remote work schedule (M/F optional work from home and T/W/TH in-office)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SEC filings and public company reporting (if applicable).
- Combination of public accounting and industry is ideal
- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis in a public or large corporate environment.
- Experience with hotels and/or theme parks preferred.
Estimated Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000 annual base salary An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Great Wolf's total compensation package. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and other perks.
