Science Systems and Applications, Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented communicator to directly support the Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) program at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. The ARSET program enables organizations engaged in water, disasters, land, and air quality management to apply NASA Earth Science Data. The project works directly with NASA projects and programs as well as external agencies and organizations to develop online and in-person trainings that teach users how to access, visualize, and apply NASA Earth Science Data in their professional area. The role of communications associate involves a combination of communications, social media, content creation, and website support, as well as providing training support and outreach to various sectors. Communications and Social Media
- Develop and send promotional announcement emails regarding upcoming events
- Develop and curate engaging content for social media platforms
- Respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments from ARSET training participants
- Review web traffic? analytics and create reports on key metrics
- Conduct outreach to new communities to promote trainings
- Identify relevant internal resources and interact with other NASA accounts
- As-needed graphic design support (create images/graphs/visuals for reports, social media, presentations)
- Conduct participant interviews
- Prepare and disseminate monthly reports and quarterly newsletters
Website Support
- Assist with website curation
- Periodically review and update training content on website
- Web analytics/marketing
In-Training Support
- Provide webinar in-session support as needed
- Create promotional materials, e.g., social cards, slide templates, agendas
- Review, edit, and standardize slides
- Create website training page and keep up-to-date as trainings are developed
- Post YouTube recordings to the relevant training page after each session
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Marketing, Journalism, or related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with social media platforms including X, LinkedIn, and Reddit
- Experience in website curation preferred
- Experience writing reports and communicating scientific content to technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse team members or in multidisciplinary collaborations
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with the NASA's Earth Science to Action and Capacity Building Program areas, and/or equivalent programs in positions of increased responsibility
- Experience conducting outreach and end user needs assessments for federal, state, and local governments, industry, non-profits, and/or academia
- Experience with interagency and/or international partnerships or committees
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be assertive
- Experience with communicating results and impacts
