Empath Health is currently seeking an Infection Preventionist (IP) to join our team.

Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm. Travel in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Polk counties.

In collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Employee Health team, the Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program for all Empath Health programs with attention to policy, program-specific unique requirements, infection risks and regulations. The IP possesses clinical expertise and utilizes critical thinking skills to engage in practices of infection risk assessment, surveillance analysis, investigation and control of healthcare acquired infections and outbreaks. The IP facilitates methods for safety, prevention, and control of infectious diseases for all patients/clients, employees, volunteers and visitors through ongoing research and integration of evidence-based best practices, education/trainings, policy development, and observation of practices through rounding and formal evaluation of the effectiveness of all infection prevention efforts.

Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; Bachelor of Science in Nursing or other degree program with Infection Prevention/Epidemiology studies preferred (such as MPH); previous experience in Infection Control and Employee Health in a healthcare setting; 3 - 5 years preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensure: RN licensure preferred, licensed in State of Florida
  • Certifications: Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) or comparable certifying body or eligible within 1 year.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheet/data management.
