Senior Staff, Software Engineer - CoreOS

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented senior staff engineer to join our FreeBSD operating systems team. In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by innovating, planning and implementing quality driven software projects. You will be responsible for delivering engineering projects under strict quality guidelines and processes within stated timelines.

Experience and Skills

  • Develop, test, and debug kernel and system-level software with a strong emphasis on C programming
  • Proven ability to test/debug own/open source code
  • Ability to work well with a talented team of senior and junior engineers in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Experience with Real-Time/Embedded operating system software and/or kernel software development
  • Knowledge of FreeBSD system-level programming and operating system internals
  • FreeBSD committer desirable
  • Strong knowledge of layer 2/3/4 networking protocols, concepts.
  • Direct experience with networking hardware especially various NIC cards, I2C, PCI, Disk Storage Devices, hardware bring up/configuration
  • Direct Experience with kernel driver development and validation experience
  • Ability to make appropriate design choices to maximize performance and scalability system requirements
  • Automation of test code. Scripting skills with Bash, Perl, Python, and/or Java.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Computer Software or related areas with 10 years of experience or Masters degree in computer science/ computer software with 6 years of experience
  • 10 years operating system software development experience
  • Good problem solving/debugging skills
  • Good communication skills, both with co-workers and customers

Minimum Salary: $194,400.00

Maximum Salary:$279,450.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $194,400.00 and $279,450.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
