Medication History Pharmacy Technician

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Medication History Pharmacy Technician. This role is responsible for obtaining an accurate medication history by interviewing patients and consulting with their outpatient pharmacies. Major Accountabilities include:



  • Obtain medication histories on all assigned patients during scheduled shifts.
  • Perform patient and/or caregiver interviews to obtain allergies and dose, route, frequency, indication, and date/time last dose taken of current medications including prescriptions, over the counter medications, and herbal supplements.


QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:



  • Preferred: Degree in Pharmacology.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:



  • Minimum: Pharmacy Technician Licensure by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Preferred: Above plus/and National Pharmacy Technician Board Certification Medication History Certificate.


Technical Requirements:



  • Minimum: Computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy technology.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with EPIC.


Years of Related Work Experience:



  • Minimum: 3 years experience.
  • Preferred: At least 1-2 years of related outpatient/retail pharmacy experience (order processing, prescription adjudication, third party problem resolution, and customer service).
