Description

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of planning, purchasing, material management and inventory control to optimize the supply chain. This includes global outreach of materials, procurement contracts and pricing, inventory management and balancing to ensure adequate inventory at all times, freight negotiations and shipping alternatives. Develops forecasting models and workflows to support operational efficiencies. Implements forward-looking strategies to adapt to changing market and business conditions, and regularly monitors operations to troubleshoot and resolve operational roadblocks.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Design and implement supply chains that support business strategies to adapt to changing market conditions, new business opportunities or cost reduction strategies.
  • Analyzes supply chain data and information to measure best practices, increase quality, and cost savings opportunities with key suppliers.
  • Directs purchasing, planning and inventory control activities by working with managers, supervisors, and other employees as needed to ensure alignment of all departments in the company to effectively support domestic and international business operations.
  • Leads the management and forecasting of materials to support domestic and international production needs; ensuring adequate inventory levels through regular checks and counts, planning for changes in market conditions, maximizing throughput, limiting down time, and satisfying customer demand and inventory requirements.
  • Manages supplier relationships by leading supplier selection, qualification, evaluation, and performance monitoring process with Buyer, with the ability to work with suppliers on technical aspects as needed.
  • Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to the quoting, sourcing, and purchasing of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Implements new or improved supply chain policies and procedures to improve efficiencies and accountability, and develops procedures to aid in the coordination with other functional areas including sales, marketing, finance, R&D, planning, production, inventory control and quality.
  • Leads the purchasing, planning and inventory control teams to develop and execute best practices, establishes new or improved processes and implements Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance to achieve organizational goals.
  • Supervises the activities of department employees in a consistent and impartial manner, planning/scheduling work, participating in recruiting and performance management activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, rules, and regulations, addressing employee concerns and promoting teamwork and positive employee behaviors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Supply Chain Management related experience. Previous technical experience in plastic extrusion, molding and films, or various metals preferred.
  • Requires solid business acumen, strong knowledge of manufacturing and inventory principles, with international business experience a plus.
  • Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization and across geographical offices, as well as with customers and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and effective prioritization skills required.
  • Proven problem-solving, analytical, and evaluative skills needed.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical information related to products, processes, and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and ERP systems (Business Central a plus).
  • Ability to mentor and develop direct reports and be willing to provide hands-on leadership.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

There is a minimal risk of injury. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and are at least 40 hours a week. May require some additional hours as business needs arise. Travel may be required depending on the needs of the business. Consistent and regular attendance required.
