ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:



  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
  • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and California: Additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)



Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Technical Manager to lead a team in the build, custom modifications, design review, and field installation of our instrumentation products. This leadership role is key to ensuring smooth daily operations within our department, including mentoring technicians and overseeing production activities. Your technical expertise and leadership will directly impact the success of our operations and the delivery of high-quality solutions to our clients.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:



  • Technical reviews of custom/system GC product flow diagrams to identify and implement the most efficient build processes, ensuring timely completion according to scheduled deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing, timely feedback to the S.I.T. Operations Manager regarding annual performance evaluations for departmental personnel.
  • Assist in managing team performance and supporting professional growth.
  • Provide daily technical support and accurate documentation to various Shimadzu departments to ensure successful instrument builds and modifications.
  • Offer guidance on system requirements and technical issues as needed.
  • Ensure the maintenance and control of parts inventories in alignment with Shimadzu's administrative policies.
  • Monitor and ensure all assigned personnel are properly utilizing the service call tracking (SRU) system, ensuring accurate and efficient workflow.
  • Ensure daily tasks and operations are aligned with company standards and best practices.
  • Provide weekly reporting to track progress and highlight any challenges in meeting objectives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of all necessary paperwork and reports in accordance with company timelines and operational requirements.



EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • An associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology (required); a bachelor's degree in Life Sciences is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation repair or related technical fields.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting, custom system modifications, and field installations.
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide less experienced staff while fostering team collaboration.
  • Proficient at diagnosing and solving technical problems efficiently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

This exempt, full-time position offers a starting salary range of $83,000 to $85,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. Eligible benefits include a 401K matching program and discretionary yearly contributions, with detailed information provided at the final interview stage. Additional variable compensation may include a discretionary year-end bonus based on overall company performance.

In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 scheduled holidays, and 3 floating holidays. After one year, you'll have access to a generous short-term disability program, with premiums fully covered by the company. Employees are insured at 100% of their salary for the first 6 weeks and 66 2/3% for weeks 7 to 12.
