POSITION SUMMARY:

The Materials Planner at New Flyer plays a vital role in the production process by ensuring that all necessary materials are procured and managed efficiently. This position involves developing and maintaining inventory plans to align with production schedules while minimizing costs. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with suppliers, production teams, and internal stakeholders to facilitate a seamless supply chain.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Develop and maintain accurate forecasts for material requirements based on production schedules and customer orders.
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor material availability to ensure timely delivery for production needs.
  • Analyze inventory levels, track trends, and optimize stock to prevent shortages and excess.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate material needs and production timelines.
  • Implement and refine processes for materials planning and inventory management that support operational efficiency.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track stock levels and inventory transactions.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and work on strategies for improvement when necessary.
  • Handle any discrepancies related to materials and find solutions promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards regarding materials procurement.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and best practices in materials planning.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESFUL:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in materials planning or supply chain management in a manufacturing context.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in inventory management tools.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and manage competing priorities.
  • Negotiation skills and experience in vendor management.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision in data management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

Salary Offered: $48,000 through $58,000
