Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral scholar, with preferred expertise in the field of oncology research. The research projects provide opportunities to have major, positive impacts on human medicine by studying the impact of novel therapy, screening, or treatment models. Several projects are available and focus on topics such as a pilot project studying lung cancer screening in community pharmacies and oncology stage 2 study of Artemi Tea (aremisia plant leaves). Manuscript writing opportunities exist for the previously discussed projects as well as for a completed study, PRiMAL which evaluated molecular tumor board assisted care versus usual care for stage IIb-IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) This position will offer numerous opportunities for the right candidate to hone their experimental, project management and scientific writing skills, by working closely with the PI on setting up the lab and working on grants and manuscripts. Additionally, the postdoctoral scholar's expertise will be strongly enhanced in the general areas of project management, protocol development, implementation science, and the design and development of data collection and monitoring. Technical writing and presentation skills will be enhanced by preparing grants, reports, IRB submissions, publications, and presentations. Opportunities will be available to present results and findings at local and national meetings. The initial duration of the position will be for 2 years with a possible renewal dependent upon funding and satisfactory performance.

Key Areas of Responsibility:





  • Maintain a strong awareness of current scientific literature, particularly in oncology and actively apply new concepts as appropriate.
  • Publish the research outcome in distinguished scientific journals and create presentations for outside scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Work alongside PI in preparing research proposals.
  • Develop and establish operating procedures for the common studies in the lab and optimize documentation procedures.
  • Assist with project management on a large clinical trial.




Required Qualifications:





  • A Ph.D. in health services research, health outcomes, epidemiology, health economics, health informatics, biostatistics, or a closely related field.
  • Excellence in the field by evidence of completed research projects and publications.
  • Strong background in some combination of the following areas:



    • Curiosity and a passion for oncology and/or community pharmacy involvement in oncology or primary care science; and an ability to work independently while being an integral part of a cooperative, productive team.








Desirable Qualifications:





  • Background experience in pharmacy practice.
  • Hands-on experience with some combination of the following:



    • Programming and conducting computational and statistical analyses on large administrative claims data, electronic health records-based databases, tumor registry data, and/or clinic notes.
    • Experience conducting cancer research and training in and/or knowledge of cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments and their associated toxicities.
    • Previous scientific publications or demonstrated experience in scientific writing.
