Risk Analyst

Overview

Responsible for supporting the operation of the risk function by evaluating and analyzing risks of varying complexity and for identifying and implementing approaches and solutions to mitigate those risks. May have a focus on one or more types of risk, such as financial risk or operational risk, and provide advice to management based on this knowledge base. Typically requires an individual with a professional qualification in one or more areas of risk management or its equivalent. Requires the ability to solve a range of problems of varying scope and complexity that addresses business needs and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan the research for and development of specialized risk assessment scopes
  • Collaborate with management and personnel to optimize risk assessment scope development
  • Identify potential business risks, operational and regulatory process deficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Gather and synthesize data; present conclusions and offer risk mitigation, remediation and process improvement solutions to management
  • Conduct and provide expertise with the administration of Navy Federal's specialized risk assessments and testing lifecycles of business activities, processes, controls, policies and procedures for operational effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements, and federal and state laws

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or 2 or more years of experience in auditing, operational risk management, risk and control self-assessments, control testing, issues management and remediation, and monitoring of risk and controls.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business and operating environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk-based auditing techniques and methodologies
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Experience with project management requirements and techniques
  • Experience with operational and regulatory risk controls concepts and practices
  • Experience with how to organize and effectively execute risk mitigation and process improvement initiatives

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of training, education and experience
