Description

Our Alabama Interstate Logos office in Montgomery, AL is now hiring an Operations Manager I to organize and oversee field operations tasks related to the Interstate Logo signing and TODS (Tourist-oriented directional signing) and Agritourism programs. This first line manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of safe structures, equipment, and construction yards.

The Interstate Logos division of Lamar Advertising is the largest provider of contract logo signing and tourist-oriented directional signing (TODS) programs, partnering with State Transportation Agencies since 1988. Interstate Logos is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lamar Media Corp., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lamar Advertising.

Please note that overnight weekly travel may be required for this position.

    What we're looking for in YOU:



    • Working knowledge of personal computers, including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.) to prepare business correspondence and prepare spreadsheets
    • Ability and willingness to learn Visio computer assisted drawing program
    • Experience with maintenance oversight of construction equipment
    • Excellent organizational skills; setting priorities which accurately reflect the importance of job responsibilities.
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written correspondence.
    • Skill in establishing rapport, encouraging individuals on a professional basis, and listening perceptively
    • Skill in mediating between parties and groups.
    • Skill in working as a part of a team, collaborating with employees, and maintaining good working relationships.
    • Skill in managing including organizing objectives, delegating responsibility, training, evaluating subordinate effectiveness, and administering necessary discipline.
    • Ability to understand and operate within a set budget.
    • Detailed knowledge of the inventory/market and obstacles of each structure in the market.


    Education and experience:



    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
    • College degree preferred
    • A valid driver's license is required
    • 2 years of relevant Operations or construction experience required

    A day in the life:



      • Oversee the vetting, interviewing and hiring of construction personnel
      • Development and submittal of new site plans for DOT review
      • Provide direct oversight of construction and logo installer crews including regular field visits for construction, traffic control and safety quality control
      • Responsible for ordering, beams, signs, overlay and parts
      • Responsible for portal updating and tracking of all field work
      • Develop weekly/daily crew lists to include layouts and materials needed lists
      • Minor sign maintenance and site clearing
      • Update and complete all required sign inspections annually


      Location Specific Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



      • Work a minimum 40 hour/5 day schedule, arrival in office by 8:00 am
      • Travel overnight when necessary


      Physical Demands and Work Environment:



      • The primary work environment consists of an office, outdoors, and vehicle.
      • Must be willing to work independently along controlled and non-controlled access roadways
      • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure company vehicle maintains a neat and
        professional appearance
      • The physical demands for this position include lifting (20 to 50 lbs.), pushing, reaching, seeing (with focus on reading, color distinction, acuity, peripheral vision, and depth perception), some sitting, standing, stooping, walking, talking, climbing, and turning.
      • Nights spent traveling are 15 to 35%.
