Job Summary
The College of Liberal Arts is currently seeking an Aviation Maintenance Control and Inventory Specialist to join our Flight Education team! Reporting to the Maintenance Control and Inventory Supervisor, the Aircraft Maintenance Control & Inventory Specialist is responsible for purchasing, tracking, and maintaining inventory levels to support the Auburn University School of Aviation. This position also issues work orders for scheduled service inspections and collaborates with the maintenance supervisor to balance the unscheduled and scheduled maintenance needs of the school.

Essential Functions

  • Tracks, inspects, traces, and oversees over 1,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs), many of which require traceability by serial number, and confirmation of certificates of conformance/documentation. Assures accuracy of installed components by serial number to aircraft to meet federal airworthiness requirements.
  • Processes component and core returns with applicable forms to protect the value of Auburn assets and secure the aviation supply chain.
  • Provides quality control by inspecting purchased parts to identify Suspected Unapproved Parts or non-conformity issues and request refunds or replacements, as necessary.
  • Maintains appropriate traceability documentation on all parts in inventory, including life-limited part core marking as required by Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Issues work orders for scheduled service inspections on Auburn University Professional Flight program aircraft. Collaborates with the Maintenance Control Supervisor to balance scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events between customers and maintenance with consideration to maintenance workload, staff levels, customer needs, and minimizing aircraft down time.
  • Provides reports and analysis on inventory levels, costs, and discrepancies to the supervisor. Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and resolving problems and inefficiencies within part and tool inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May provide oversight and direction of student employees.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in aircraft maintenance facility and aviation supply procedures, including aircraft parts and inventory.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications


Minimum Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and familiarity with aircraft maintenance logs, AD's, ICA's, and 14 CFR part 91 and part 43.
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills within a matrix management structure.
