Assistant Director, Academic Success Coach (College of Engineering and Computer Science)

The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida is currently accepting applications for the role of Assistant Director, Academic Success Coach for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The Assistant Director is assigned a case load of students; the Assistant Director meets frequently with each student to build ongoing coaching relationships and uses enhanced coaching and advising methodologies to: provide early integration, conduct academic planning, develop individualized academic success plans, offer ongoing coaching support, monitor student success over time, track timely degree progression, and promote student goal completion. While working collaboratively across campus with teams of academic colleges and student services partners, the Assistant Director must be knowledgeable in all aspects of the student experience to include enrollment, degree requirements, student coaching, student services, retention, graduation, and overall success. The Assistant Director is also responsible for supporting the Director in managing the Academic Success Coaches and overall office operations. Working with the Director, the Assistant Director will make data-informed decisions, deliver high-quality programs and services, and address barriers that may prevent success.

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Due to the nature of the work, this is not a fully remote position, and remote (hybrid) work of any kind may not be guaranteed or may be altered as needed. UCF's Coaching Model: The Assistant Director, Academic Success Coach (ASC) role is a newly created exciting position that combines academic advising and academic coaching. The Assistance Director, ASC will be assigned to the College of Engineering and Computer Science but report centrally in the Division of Student Success and Well-Being.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and implementing college/department goals and strategies as a senior professional in academic advising, coaching, transition programming and orientation, enrollment, retention, persistence, progression, and graduation.

• Manage specific programs, activities, and functions that enhance retention, persistence, and timely graduation.

• Manage FTIC and Transfer Orientation programs and assist the Director with providing direction and execution of orientation programming activities.

• Develop training materials and facilitate delivery to Academic Success Coaches to enhance their skills across multiple areas.

• Provide Leadership to a large team of Academic Success Coaches in programs related to student onboarding experiences and graduation initiatives.

• Assigned to specific student cohorts.

• Assist the Director with creating strategies for enrollment and registration campaigns and tracking outcomes.

• Utilize the degree audit, academic planner tools, Peoplesoft, advising dashboards, and myKnightSTAR to create pathways for persistence, progression, and timely graduation.

• Monitor university policies and procedures and keep the Director informed of policies and procedures that are impeding persistence, progression, and timely graduation.

• Assist the Director with assessing staff use of technologies, tools, and dashboards.

• Analyze data to ensure data-informed decisions support retention, persistence, and graduation metrics.

• Assist the Director with compiling reports supporting Academic Success Coaching.

• May serve as a liaison on colleges and other university committees.

• Complete ongoing training and participate in professional development programs.

• Work with the team to achieve established metrics, including contact hours, appointments, and associated summary reports, and assign students continuing to the following term.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in higher education.

• Experience in coaching, with a preference for experience in student coaching.

• Experience in and/or understanding of case management.

• Experience in and/or understanding of customer service.

• Experience with using a CRM to case manage/track student, client, or customer interactions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., MS Word and Excel) and desktop agent software (e.g., MS TEAMS).
