Join our expert team as a Technical Writer/Courseware Developer in Colorado Springs, CO, where you'll play a key role in transforming detailed report data into comprehensive training materials and technical documentation. Working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), training leads, and project analysts, you will ensure the development of high-quality lesson plans, student materials, and technical manuals to meet critical customer training needs.

Pay: $95,000 - $115,000

Essential Duties

Instructional Design & Courseware Development



  • Research and apply the ADDIE Instructional Model to create instructional materials that align with learning theories and performance improvement goals.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to extract key content from source documents to support defined learning objectives.
  • Develop complete curriculum packages, including writing objectives, evaluations, lesson plans, and student handbooks.


Technical Writing & Documentation



  • Write, edit, and proofread technical data for materials such as technical manuals, operations instructions, equipment manuals, and other training-related documentation.
  • Ensure technical documentation meets editorial, government specifications, and internal quality standards, including compliance with military technical writing regulations (e.g., AFI 10-207, MIL-STD 38784).
  • Perform quality control on all documents, reviewing updated regulations and guidance to maintain accurate content.


Collaboration & Reporting



  • Work with team members to meet production, quality, and schedule requirements, ensuring deliverables are completed on time.
  • Interface with contractor and government personnel to refine training materials and resolve any issues.
  • Provide written and oral reports to contractor management and government representatives.


Required Qualifications



  • 3-10 years of experience in technical writing and document management.
  • Proven ability to create training material and develop comprehensive courseware for military and defense applications.
  • Familiarity with ADDIE instructional design model, military technical writing standards, and related regulations (e.g., AFI 10-207, MIL-STD 38784).
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teams and SMEs to meet complex training requirements.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with ADVISOR training management system and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and supporting DoD contracts.
  • Experience developing instructional content for United States Space Forces (USSF).
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and adapt to changing processes and technologies.


Education & Certification



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • An M.A. or M.S. degree may substitute for 5 years of experience; PhD or EdD may substitute for 10 years of experience.


Required Clearance



  • Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI.


Work Environment



  • Standard office working conditions.


Travel



  • 10% travel required.
