Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions is currently hiring for a 1st shift Team Leader to support activities at our Freeport IL, location. As part of operations management, the Team Leader has the ultimate responsibility and accountability for meeting the department's targets around Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, Delivery, Cost and Leading the workforce. The Team Leader's primary responsibility is running the department including but not limited to determining the quantity and quality of products to be made, planning, and controlling the departmental budget, leadingand developing the department's workforce through coaching, teaching, and mentoring, and monitoring or implementing DBS compliance measures. These compliance measures include initiating, monitoring, assisting, supporting, and improving all aspects of key metrics: safety, quality, delivery, cost, and continuous improvement.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.

The range for this position is $78,000 - $98,000.



Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.




  • Lead and direct the workforce in problem identification, problem solving and implementing continuous improvement measures.
  • Engage Team Coordinator's and employees to improve department/area processes and performance.
  • Manage overall performance within a specified employee department (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.) to achieve expected standards in the areas of EHS, Quality, Delivery and Cost
  • Communicate with Team Coordinator's daily and make decisions on issues related to safety and productivity.
  • Communicate daily with other shifts and peers regarding safety, quality, productivity, staffing, equipment, continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive the creation and improvement of standardized work.
  • Identify production needs and plan resources to meet these needs.
  • Lead and execute the 5S activities to maintain the area to standard.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture by instilling RCPS methodology.
  • Constantly search for improvement and continually seek to eliminate waste.

  • Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Production Operations Management, Engineering or related field; or 5 years of operations experience in lieu of degree.


  • Required Skills or traits for the position:
  • Leadership: Organize and motivate a team to achieve day-to-day goals: Solid interpersonal skills & listening skills are important to help individuals work as a team, resolve conflict, and support our customer. Coach and resolve performance issues through the Performance Management process.
  • Ownership/Accountability traits: Acts with a sense of urgency to achieve desired results. Follows through and drives actions to completion.
  • Language & Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence such as Standard Work and Training are important. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Project and/or Time Management: Ability to plan and organize work projects is desired and previous experience & examples of managing projects are beneficial. Attention to detail and accuracy is important as well as the ability to be flexible under pressure. Understands the importance of following pre-established guidelines and standard operating procedures and how these guidelines impact the performance of the manufacturing process.
