Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst.

About Us:
Join the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL) at NYU Langone Health, a collaborative initiative between the Department of Population Health (DPH) and NYU Wagner School of Public Service. HEAL leverages New York Medicaid and other state administrative data to advance health and healthcare research. Our mission is to enhance the administration of the New York Medicaid program and contribute to national health and healthcare scholarship.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Data Analyst to support our addiction health services research projects. This role offers hands-on training at the intersection of health services and substance use treatment, working closely with our faculty on grant-supported research.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analyses on health and healthcare services.
  • Manage and analyze large, complex administrative datasets.
  • Develop programs to clean and prepare data for analysis.
  • Perform statistical analyses under faculty supervision and present findings.
  • Contribute to publications and conference presentations, including drafting content and creating visualizations.
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Create maps, figures, and tables for research articles.
  • Participate actively in regular research team meetings.
  • Maintain project documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g., statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, health services, public health, economics, public policy).
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work or research experience.
Experience with health-related data (e.g., Medicaid claims, electronic health records).
Strong quantitative and programming skills, primarily in R
Ability to apply appropriate statistical methods for data analysis.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Willingness to learn new technical skills and gain knowledge in addiction health service research.
Knowledge of principles and methods of biostatistics; principles, theories, and procedures of epidemiology, including study design, statistical analysis, econometrics methods, and causal inference.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Stata, SAS, and Python is a plus.
Experience with database queries and SQL is advantageous.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64,350.00- $75,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
