Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To maintain documentation of theraputic services provided.
  2. To provide theraputic intervention and case management to assigned patients.
  3. To recognize signs and symptoms of chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.
  4. To recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.
  5. To keep psychiatrists and treatment team informed of patient status.
  6. To participate in and to document clinical supervision, if applicable.
  7. To attend team and therapy meetings; to provide consultation to treatment team.
  8. To assess all chemical dependency needs of the patient, using the (12) core functions.
  9. To develop and renew treatment plans.
  10. To provide clinical programming for patients and families.
  11. To complete psychosocial history.
  12. To interface with Utilization Review on a regular basis to determine patient treatment needs with managed care counseling.
  13. To complete discharge planning requirements.
  14. To oversee interns and licensed-eligible therapists including interviewing, scheduling, supervising and evaluating therapist interns or licensed-eligible therapists.
  15. To assist Clinical Services Director in scheduling and time management for staff.
  16. To assist Clinical Services Director in chart audits of entire hospital.
  17. To assist Clinical Services Director in training of new therapy staff.
  18. To assist Clinical Services Director in evaluation of current staff members.
  19. To act in place of Clinical Services Director when needed.

Customers Served:

Patients, families, allied health professionals, physicians, staff from all hospital departments.

Qualifications:

Ability to assess patient's needs for theraputic services and make appropriate referrals. Ability to provide appropriate ducumentation. Expertise in assessment and community resources preferred.

Education:

Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.

Licensure/Ceriification:

Current Virginia Drivers License

Required Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved Supervisor preferred.

Current CPS preferred

Current Physical and Verbal Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification preferred.

Experience:

Three (3) years relevent leadership experience in a psychiatric/behavioral health program or facility.

Physical Requirements:

Full range of body motion including handeling and lifting patients with assistance. Manuel and finger desterity. Hand-eye coordination. Ability to run. Ability to restrain patients weighing up to 250 pounds with assistance. Ability to lift and arry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform CPR. Ability to drive a vehicle. Frequent stnading, bending, stooping and reaching in orer to move items or assist patients. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential functions. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions. Ability to speak clearly. Ability to write legibly.

Participates in theraputic crisis intervention with physically aggressive patients which may involve some personal risk. May encounter some chemicals listed in MSDS sheets. Travel by car and/or air.
