Our Houston Office currently has a fabulous opportunity for a Sr. Project Manager within the Construction Materials Department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor less experienced team members, assist the Laboratory Manager with high level project management, and leadership of team. This is an exciting department with great cohesion among the members. The revenue continues to rise, as does the size of the team. We would expect the person who takes this position to continue the growth in both areas. Most projects are related concrete and concrete aggregate type observations and laboratory testing. General Responsibilities:
Directs the efforts of lab personnel personnel on projects related to concrete and concrete aggregate testing to ensure that all services are responsive to the client's needs, including being on time and within an identified scope and budget. Coordinates with laboratory personnel, equipment and technical experts required to complete the assigned projects and actively promotes additional services and projects whenever possible. Respond to client requests, mentor the laboratory staff, train technicians, and oversee quality systems.
Essential Functions and Duties:
* Continually reviews the project's progress and evaluates technical data received from project staff for decisions to be made by company consultants the client, the contractor or other decision-making bodies involved in the project.
* Assists laboratory management and technical consultants with the formulation of strategies to promote a specific and/or large project.
* With general assistance from laboratory management, organizes and assembles the resources required to serve the needs of a large project or a number of projects.
* Participates in periodic reviews of the project with respect to its schedule, design and/or construction cost, and prepares progress reports on a regular basis to company management and the client's representatives as needed.
* Completes the project records at the close of the project, documents the required close-out data, organizes the project records and turns them over to the office responsible for the project and its permanent project files.
* Acts as a communication link between all company representatives, management, contractors and any other parties involved in the design or construction process. Directs the inspections and reviews necessary at the close of a project to ensure that check lists are completed, the project documents are retained, costs and quantities have been summarized, any special history data is recorded and obtains approval from the various bodies for the full completion of the project.
* Participates in the evaluation and selection of key project personnel with office management and technical experts to ensure appropriate levels of expertise are available to serve the needs of the project requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 5 years' related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years' related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable
  • Current ACI Concrete Strength Tester and ACI Field Certification
  • Will need to earn ACI Aggregate Lab 1 Certification and NRMCA Plant Inspector Certification in the first 6 months of employment.
  • Previous experience in Concrete Mix Design applications and testing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with high energy and ability to interact with clients and all company service lines.
