A Brief Overview
The Financial Accounting Intern is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, cash reporting and foundation grant review and compliance and other accounting functions.

What you will do



  • Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and preparation of monthly financial statement and annual reports for several entities.
  • Responsible for the administration of the grant process using Micro Edge software.
  • Review all grant proposals/applications and perform research on prospective HFF grantees.
  • Analyze all financial reports (budgets/financial statements) received from prospective grantees.
  • Ensure all HFF grants comply with internal and legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain forecasts/budgets for the Foundation and other entities.
  • Communicate with not-for-profit organization personnel regularly and coordinate grant-related site visits.
  • Responsible for administration/accounting of several trusts.
  • Responsible for tax returns/compliance.
  • Responds to independent auditor inquiries as needed.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university, with a declared major in Accounting. Required
  • Must have completed the following courses: Intermediate Accounting II and Federal Income Tax. Required
  • Major GPA of 3.0 or higher Required
  • Ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including, proficient in use of Excel and MS Office.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires a detail orientated, independent thinker who has ability to be a part of a team and demonstrates knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and industry professionals.
