JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Extension is hiring an AREA MASTER GARDENER COORDINATOR - AREA C (south-central Pennsylvania). This individual will work with Penn State Extension's Master Gardener Programs in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill, and York counties, with additional statewide responsibilities. This individual will provide regional leadership and coordination for the Master Gardener Program through collaborative relationships with the State Master Gardener Coordinator, County Master Gardener Coordinators, Master Gardener (MG) volunteers, Extension Educators, faculty and administrators. Responsibilities include direct supervision of county Master Gardener coordinators within the listed geographic area. The individual will be involved with the growth of the Penn State Master Gardener Program through effective yearly basic training, advanced training, development and maintenance of an internal communication system, and adherence to the program's strategic plan. The individual will also be involved with the development of a statewide funding portfolio including program cost recovery, grants and contracts, and fund development. Hybrid work arrangements are available; base office must be within geographic area served. PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements include a master's degree and eight or more years of relevant work experience in horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, or a related field, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience. The candidate must have experience in volunteer management, the ability to inspire and develop leadership in individuals and committees and to build and maintain community partnerships.Must possess strong organizational and communications skills (both oral and written), and computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite. Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a car.Preference will be given to candidates who have experience managing volunteers and employees, a horticulture background, experience in adult or non-formal education, and competency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and databases. There is an expectation of regular travel throughout the individual's respective geographic area. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
