SET THE COURSE

The Assistant Controller Retail & eCommerce manages a team of 4 - 6 employees. This role will partner with Oxford Accounting to lead the close processes for these two divisions ensuring compliance with GAAP, adherence to deadlines, and promote continuous process improvement. This position requires a solid understanding of retail accounting, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest financial standards.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Accounting And Compliance

* Lead the general accounting function, including revenue recognition/sales audit, inventory, SAAS contracts, fixed assets and capital budgets

* Jointly responsible with parent company Oxford Industries for the timely and successful monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close as well as completion of internal and external audits.

* Manage the monthly close process ensuring deadlines are met, account reconciliations are performed, and complete variance analysis on key P&L accounts

  • Analyze financial performance and present insights to senior management.
  • Provide support and analysis to the Finance & Accounting teams in the creation of new policies and procedures, or revisions to the existing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage the team responsible for fixed asset processing (Retail, Restaurant/Marlin Bars, Corporate and IT), Retail Inventory Accounting and Retail Inventory Operations. This includes oversight of the annual retail physical inventory
  • Review various reserve analysis including retail inventory markdown reserve, retail inventory shrink reserve and returns reserve
  • Review bonus calculations for retail location bonuses
  • Review certain balance sheet account reconciliations e.g. Retail AR, prepaids, SAAS, inventory, fixed assets, TIAs.
  • Prepare actual vs budget variance analysis and review monthly with the Divisional leaders.
  • Work with FP&A to research/prepare budget vs actual variance analysis. Use this analysis to determine journal entries that may be necessary to properly reflect the financial statements as well as determine changes needed in the reforecast.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual capital budget and reforecasting the capital budget when needed.
  • Support the annual operating budget and reforecast process.
  • Support the year end audit as needed.

Internal Controls And Risk Management

* Implement effective internal controls and risk management procedures to safeguard company assets.

Business Partnership

* Serve as a key partner to the business by understanding and communicating the accounting and finance implications of various strategies and transactions.

* Partner with Retail Operations in the preparation of store monthly labor targets and store compliance with policies and procedures e.g. retail inventory policies

Continuous Improvement

* Evaluate and implement new processes, financial systems, and technologies to streamline processes and enhance capabilities.

Team Leadership

* Build and develop a high-performing accounting team. * Set clear objectives, provide coaching and mentorship.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification and public accounting experience preferred
  • Preferably 2 - 4 + years leading a small accounting team for a mid to large sized company $300M plus in revenue
  • Strong manager skills. Ability to manage a staff with varied skill sets (including exempt and non-exempt associates).
  • Well-versed in preparation of GAAP Financial Statements.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP including fixed assets, SAAS accounting, revenue recognition, inventory and costing and lease accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Knowledge of ERP Financial Software is necessary; SAP expertise preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, serving with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent data analysis and trend identifications skills with a focus on problem solving skills.
  • Close attention to detail and closely supervise department tasks looking for opportunities for improvement
  • Good project management skills, taking an initiative from inception to completion and working with cross-functional leaders to define and achieve a successful outcome
  • Strong work ethic and integrity
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, SAP preferred.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual's experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $123,800.00 to $206,300.00 annually
