Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit |
The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement , was established in 2001 to develop citizen-leaders who serve
UNC Greensboro and the larger Piedmont Triad community, and to advance the commitment of
UNC Greensboro that every student will have the opportunity to engage in leadership development with public purpose.
UNC Greensboro is a public, doctoral/research-intensive university of almost 20,000 students coming from North Carolina and 48 other states and 69 foreign countries/regions in 82 baccalaureate programs, 28 certificate/specialist/licensure programs, 74 master's programs and 32 doctoral programs, located in a city of 287,019 in the central part of the state, with a metropolitan area population of 1,089,155. |
Position Summary |
The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and supporting programs that connect our students, faculty, staff, and alumni to the greater community. The Assistant Director will ensure that the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement will serve as the nexus for community-based initiatives and civically-engaged learning at
UNC Greensboro. |
Minimum Qualifications |
- Master's degree with minimum of five years of directly related full-time professional experience, or equivalent, required.

- Master's degree with minimum of five years of directly related full-time professional experience, or equivalent, required.
- The successful applicant must have demonstrated expertise working with diverse populations; demonstrated expertise in engaged pedagogies at the university level and in student leadership development; demonstrated expertise in the body of knowledge related to leadership development, community/volunteer service, service-learning, civic learning and democratic engagement, and/or social justice; exemplary oral and written communication skills; demonstrated expertise in managing staff, budgets, program planning and program evaluation; demonstrated expertise in assessing program outcomes and student learning; high energy, excellent follow-through, commitment to collaborative and inclusive work.
