Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

We are currently seeking candidates for one (1) Blacksmith - Welder, starting wage rate $48.86. The reporting location for this position will be at Evergy's F&M Service Center located in Kansas City, Missouri. Please find below a list of the minimum requirements for the position. The candidates must supply their qualifications in the documentation submitted to be considered for the position.

Job Duties:
* Does welding and brazing in connection with construction and maintenance of equipment and structures such as, but not limited to, machinery, stationary equipment, steam line, tools, castings, fittings and vehicle construction modifications. Works with other classifications as required.
* Cuts, bends, threads, and fashions roads into various items of hardware. Does sheet metal, iron and structural work.
* Uses power and hand tools and repairs and operates shop machines necessary in performing the work.
* Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and other instructions.
* Drives vehicles and performs minor service on vehicles in the field.
* Performs similar and related work consistent with the general nature of this classification.

Experience: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or 4 years' experience as a journeyman blacksmith welder.

General: Must be D.O.T. certified to drive as required by federal law. If not currently D.O. T. certified to drive, D.O.T. preliminary physical exam will be required. Must obtain and maintain hazardous materials endorsement.

Blacksmith Welder Performance Test:

Must be able to pass ASME IX B31.1 code tests relating to high-pressure piping.
* Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) 2.75" Tube XX Heavy (6010 root and 7018 fill and cover)

Must be able to pass AWS D1.1 and D1.2 code test relating to structural welding.
* Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Flat, Horizontal, Vertical and Overhead Positions on
" plate open butt E 6010 root pass with E7018 fill and cover.
* Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) Flat, Horizontal and Vertical positions on " plate .035 ER 70S-3 root pass with .035" ER70S-3 fill and cover.
