This role is responsible for ensuring that all payments, including checks, wires transfers, ACH and credit card payments are applied correctly to customer accounts in a timely and accurate manner. The cash application specialist will work with both internal and external customers to address any payment application questions for correct application. Cash support also includes addressing questions regarding claim payment check status (check tracing) and void/reissue requests.
Competencies: Functional: The position performs the following which will evolve as system implementations are completed:
- Accurately and efficiently apply cash payments to open accounts receivable balances.
- Process Cash, identify the account and type of payment the cash receipt is to be applied.
- Manage various types of payments, lockboxes, e-bills, and Wires/ACH.
- Ensure proper documentation is available to support payment processing.
- Follow-up with external clients as needed to gather support and clarify payment application.
- Work internally with the Billing Team, Treasury, Account Managers, and the General Ledger team.
- Ability to work within multiple AR systems understanding what cash belongs to each.
- Confirm Check Tracing; identify if checks are outstanding or paid as requested and provide copies as needed.
- Support audit requests as needed.
- Ability to adapt in an environment that is evolving and transforming.

- Strong math skills - one payment may be split among several invoices.
- Detail oriented - understanding the support and applying it as directed to the correct invoice, period, date.

- Proficient in Excel - basic skills, filtering, sorting, creating basic formulas.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.Associate degree in finance or accounting preferred but not required.
- Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in cash application and accounts receivable.
- As this role is a remote role, you are required to maintain internet service that allows you to complete your essential job duties without issue. Rates of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload while hardwired and not on a VPN are sufficient.
