MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school graduate or GED equivalent.

2. Hospital provided Medical terminology to be completed within one year of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Completion of recognized training program for Surgical Technologist or central supply technician, preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Surgical experience preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.Other duties may be assigned.

1. Review surgery schedule 3 days in advance to ensure all supplies are obtained for case, necessary instruments will be sterilized and ready for case and resolve any equipment scheduling conflicts in advance of case.

2. Check every case cart the morning of surgery to ensure carts are complete and ready for surgery.

3. Work collaboratively with designated staff/leader(s) to identify supplies and equipment needed from vendors and follow established procedures for procurement.

4. Open sterile supplies for case as needed following established policies and procedures.

5. Assist with positioning of patient and holding of limbs as required.

6. Maintain availability in sterile core during cases to ensure patient, physician and staff needs are met during cases.

7. Retrieve supplies from Pyxis supply cabinets and follow patient charging procedure

8. Assist with room turnover as needed.

9. Assist in transporting and transferring patients as necessary.

10. Performs all duties in a manner which demonstrates the knowledgeofenvironmental, infection and hazardous material control practices, tomaintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.

6. Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules including an ability to integrate multiple factors which may have an impact on patient care, including variances in human resources.
