Make your mark at the world's largest HVAC company We are seeking an experienced Senior New Product Development Design Specialist to join our growing team. In this hands-on role, you will play a key part in supporting new product design initiatives, ensuring that designs meet high standards of quality, functionality, meeting business growth goals. You will leverage your expertise to drive innovation and maintain high standards across the entire product development lifecycle. Location: Plymouth, MN (Hybrid- 3days on-site/ 2 remote) What you will do: - In collaboration with leadership, develop sustainable and scalable procedures to improve the efficiencies and continuous improvement - Lead cross-functional troubleshooting sessions to identify flaws, root cause, and solutions - Perform testing/review to ensure quality and standards are met and debugging efforts occur to ensure design intent is met, and parts are acceptable for form, fit and function. - Examine designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to design requirements - Lead and support the design and development of new products, ensuring they meet quality standards, functional requirements, and business objectives. - Create engineering documentation including Solidworks modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards. - Provide input into project planning and management to ensure that project schedules are met, and areas of high risk addressed. - Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation. - Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules. - Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills. - Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness. - Complete work assignments within determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals. - Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products. - Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic. - Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams. - Participate in or lead special team projects. - Other duties may be assigned.
- 8+ years of progressive design experience - Direct work experience and familiar with manufacturing practices and processes and product configurations, including basic logic for product or design selection. - Professional experience using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools - Work sponsorship is not available for this position Preferred Qualifications - Design experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products - Experience leading cross-functional projects - Understanding of Lean six sigma and root cause analysis concepts Benefits: - Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. - Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance - 401K retirement plan with employer match - Paid time off and company paid holidays - Paid sick time in accordance with the federal, state and local law - Tuition Reimbursement after 6 months of continuous service The typical annual hourly rate for these position(s) range from $35.24/hr - $53.66/hr (depending on level). The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade(s). Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. |
