The Global Contracts Lead is responsible for coordinating the development and updating of policies and procedures. Independently supports investigator proposal submission efforts in response to unsolicited application guidelines, requests for applications, public announcements, and requests for proposals from a variety of sponsors of varying complexity. Independently negotiates standard and more complex terms and conditions associated with federal contracts and other non-industrial sponsored agreements consistent with institutional policy and practice, that are programmatically and fiscally responsive. Prepares or initiates document templates and other resource needs.

Job Overview:

The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is seeking a collaborative and experienced Global Contracts Lead. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, Contracts and Agreements, the Global Contracts Lead will be responsible for the management and oversight of contract research administrators that handle contract development, review, renewal, execution, termination, and archiving for GPM and St. Jude Global. They will serve as the team lead for providing leadership assistance and support to the contracts team and GPM staff on a variety of contractual, risk management, and processes by assisting with contract requests, legal research, writing, contract review, document production, and other tasks as assigned. Works collaboratively and collectively with GPM finance, legal, and institutional personnel to ensure alignment. They will also supervise team members on workflows, develop policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as well as audit contractual agreements to ensure compliance with Institutional policies.

Job Description

  • Lead operations related to administration of grants and contracts through planning, management of resources, collaboration with Faculty and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with GPM Operations and Program Leaders while leading the effort to process all legal and compliance documentation necessary.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that all contract submissions contain required legal terms, prepared accurately and submitted on time.
  • Review proposed contracts for accuracy and red-line documents prior to submission to the Office of Legal Services (OLS).
  • Serve as a liaison between program teams and legal offices for domestic, international and complex contracts.
  • Ensure processes and contracts follow all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Mentor team members for development through advice, coaching, and training opportunities.
  • Maintains GPM and St. Jude Global records in institutional contract database management system according to institutional policies and procedures.
  • Perform audit of contractual obligations to ensure compliance with institutional and departmental objectives, policies and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience managing multiple processes applicable to grants and contracts.
  • Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Experience Contract life cycle processing and management.
  • Experience or exposure to global health or international sector(s) preferred.
  • Supervisory and/or team coordinator experience required.
  • Proven performance in an earlier role.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Smartsheet, Microsoft Outlook Calendar tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience in an international setting and with project management methodologies preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Global Contracts Lead, Global Contracts and Grants.
