Overview / Job Summary:

The Faculty Instructor plays a vital role in delivering a combination of classroom, lab, and hands-on instruction for our associate and technical certificates in Aerospace Coatings & Paint Technology, Aerospace Manufacturing Technology (Sheetmetal), and Composites Technology. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment in student-related decisions, evaluating student progress and assessing skills to ensure academic success. The instructor will be responsible for delivering training material that will instruct students on industry standards used in manufacturing and typical structural repairs, per technical documentation, within a classroom and laboratory environment. Candidates will have the depth of knowledge and experience to demonstrate such typical structural fabrication and repairs.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality instruction in both theoretical and practical aspects of aviation manufacturing. This includes teaching aircraft assembly processes, as well as conducting hands-on lab training sessions. You will work closely with students to ensure they meet the required standards for certification and licensing, while fostering a safe and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sheet metal, composites, and paint and coating, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive aviation manufacturing training programs including sheetmetal, composites, paint and coating in compliance with KBOR, KSBN, KDE, FAA, WSUTech, and industry requirements.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with the aviation industry and professional organizations to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Instruct students in a variety of aviation manufacturing disciplines, including sheetmetal, composites, paint and coating.
  • Delivers engaging, professional, face-to-face classroom and lab instruction in alignment with curriculum standards.
  • Implements a systematic program evaluation plan to assess student and program outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and presenting action plans as needed.
  • Maintaining 35 on-campus office hours per week for instruction, preparation, accurate record keeping on performance and attendance, and student appointments.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in aviation manufacturing with fostering strong partnerships with Industry Advocate Team (IAT) members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards within classroom and practices.
  • Participates in 20 hours of professional development activities
  • Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.

Requirements, Knowledge & Skills Needed:

  • Extensive knowledge of aviation manufacturing, with a strong foundation in aviation core principles, assembly processes, modifications and mechanical programming.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of current industry experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of adult education experience, preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions, with or without accommodations, in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while managing multiple competing priorities. Regular attendance is required to support students and prospective students, as well as to participate in meetings and in-service training, some of which may be held offsite.
  • Schedules may vary to accommodate student needs and deadlines. The role may require extended periods of sitting or standing. Independent travel by car or public transportation is necessary to provide flexibility in working at alternate campuses as needed.
  • If using a personal vehicle for college business, a valid driver's license and current auto insurance are required.
