Summary of Job Duties:The Research Technologist will support Dr. Sanja Novak's laboratory by managing lab operations, ensuring compliance with animal research regulations, and conducting experiments. This role involves laboratory organization, animal experimentation support, regulatory compliance, and training of staff and students. The position requires strong attention to detail, project coordination, and effective communication across research teams. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological or Health Sciences or a related field PLUS two (2) yearsin research laboratory testing and analysis required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with animal research protocols and compliance.
  • Ability to train and oversee research personnel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in histomorphometric analysis of bone and cartilage.
  • Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements and compliance.
  • Strong scientific writing skills for protocol and report preparation.
  • Experience coordinating research teams and laboratory operations.
  • Familiarity with controlled substance inventory and regulatory procedures.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities

  • Oversee laboratory organization, supplies, and experimental protocol consistency. Manage and maintain mouse colonies and related databases.
  • Conduct and oversee animal experimentation, including surgical procedures.
  • Develop and maintain Animal Use Protocols (AUPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and federal animal research regulations.
  • Assist in regulatory submissions and protocol revisions.
  • Train staff, students, and fellows in laboratory and animal research techniques.
  • Facilitate research meetings, prepare agendas, and document action items.
  • Monitor and support quality control in research activities.
  • Assist with laboratory inspections and compliance audits.
  • Other Duties As Assigned
