THE POSITION

The County of Washington Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (BDHS) Department is seeking applicants for the position of Intellectual Disabilities Program Specialist 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is professional work of an administrative nature reviewing, analyzing, evaluating, monitoring, and coordinating Intellectual Disabilities (ID) programs as a member of the BDHS administrative staff. You will be responsible for ensuring implementation of the rules, regulations, program policies, and objectives while assisting in oversight of service delivery including individual budgets. Duties also involve providing technical assistance to providers including but not limited to program planning, budget determination, development, implementation, and coordination.

You will be expected to provide budgetary oversight of individual's service needs and funding limitations, use reports to track utilization of waiver capacity, and manage the prioritization of enrolled individuals and the waiting list for those in need of service. This includes coordinating with the County Assistance Offices to ensure accurate records of eligibility and enrollment and to resolve any discrepancies. You will also participate in meetings with individuals, support coordinators, and providers; participate in the review and approval of individual support plan materials; and track the content of technical assistance provided.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Evening and weekend work is also required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in the field of intellectual disabilities, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
