About the role

The Lab Technician at Reworld Waste analyzes samples and ensures compliance with environmental and safety standards to support waste management operations. This position is crucial for properly evaluating and complying with the facility's waste analysis plan. The individual is responsible for conducting on-site laboratory and testing procedures. They will determine acceptable waste streams and collaborate closely with operations to ensure proper processing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Calibrate all laboratory equipment each morning.
  • Analyze and record all incoming samples and record results, hard copy and in computer system.
  • Analyze and complete bench study (treatability) on each incoming load, to include new samples.
  • Analyze materials received and compare to the profile.
  • Follow tutorials and online training to use new instrumentation and/or test methods.
  • Maintain all lab equipment: GC, ICP, FOG and Flash testing
  • Assist with laboratory projects that result in improved cost, quality, efficiency, or other general process/compliance improvements.
  • Maintain inventory and tell appropriate people for reordering supplies
  • Weekly audits of safety shower and eye wash station to maintain compliance
  • Be willing to comply with the plant to help with projects that they are working on
  • Communicate with Lab Manager, Facility Manager and other key personnel
  • Open and close the lab including securing materials and turning off equipment
  • Always maintain good housekeeping of the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Work as a team to dispose of samples before hold date expiration
  • Ability to use software to track sample results and enter data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar software.
  • Communicate in a professional manner and explain things to others to help them understand.
  • Knowledge of preparing and labeling required reagents according to protocols.
  • Differentiate between hazardous and non-hazardous materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the waste industry and prior experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred.

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Low to Moderate noise Level
  • Moderate to high odors associated with some streams

This position's expected hourly pay rate is $26.00 -$28.00.

This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account various factors, including experience, ability, and location. Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
