Overview
Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This position is a temporary (summer) - part-time position located at NASA's White Sands Test Facility in the Safety & Mission Assurance Department. EOE/Minority/Female/Disabled/Veteran
Responsibilities
Participate in scheduling and administrative recordkeeping for Safety Mission Assurance (SMA) staff meetings, White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) safety and quality meetings, safety trainings and new hire orientation events.
- Assist in creating records and documenting annual, biannual, and triennial reviews of safety programs, Job Hazard Analyses revisions and other program updates as required.
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration and database management, ensuring acquisition of current SDSs for products arriving on site, and elimination of duplicate and outdated SDSs in system.
- Assist the SMA team in developing and maintaining a comprehensive safety training matrix for all employees on site.
- Support and assist safety instructors in creating and updating effective safety training materials, prepare and maintain classroom rosters for safety instructors.
- Assist SMA team with documenting worksite area inspections and identifying potential hazards in the workplace in support of OSHA VPP efforts sitewide.
- Maintain safety inspection records, hazard assessments, using basic database management system tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an educational institution and working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in a Safety/EHS or Emergency Management related discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Share Point, with an emphasis on Excel
