Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Leads Architect and Network Administration teams in planning, coordinating and management of daily operations of all servers, desktops, network, software and other infrastructure equipment in support of the corporation availability goals. Leads teams in diagnosis of hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate manner and makes appropriate changes to the operations as required.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • With minimal direction from Technical Services Manager, manages day to day operation, administration, implementation and maintenance of all infrastructure operations.
  • Proactively plans, acquires, coordination, installation and monitoring of all data networks
  • Proactively performs systems performance and capacity planning and provides finalized deliverables to Technical Services Manager.
  • Develop short and long term technology requirements based upon interaction with key stakeholders of Terracon's operations and corporate services.
  • Ensures operation and desktop support staff are functioning to maintain enterprise systems in order to meet the metrics for availability and stability of the environment.
  • Direct management and supervision of the Architect and Network Administration staff with little assistance of the Technical services manager.
  • Coordinates activities with IT Infrastructure Architects to ensure best practices are followed for enterprise systems.
  • Performs DR test at least yearly
  • Monitors and coordinates the day to day activities of all vendors providing services to the company related to area of responsibilities.
  • Maintain a storage management program and implement the department's Data Backup and Offsite Media Storage policy.
  • Responsible for the tactical aspects of disaster recovery, auditing and security policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Proactively ensures effectiveness of network intrusion detection systems
  • Manages and plans quarterly maintenance outages collaborating with other teams to assess impact of infrastructure changes to the environment.
  • Establish best practices and policies for installation of workstation hardware, servers, and the network.
  • Works with the IT Asset coordinator to ensure compliance for server and network asset management.
  • Ensures that documentation that supports all infrastructure systems is maintained.
  • Manage and mentor other staff members regarding change management and ensures it is properly administered.
  • Responsibility for data security software, event filter systems, analysis of output reports and taking action as directed by the security policy or CIO.
  • Monitors teams progress to meet task assignments
  • Collaborates with other teams to assess impact of application changes in the infrastructure environment.
  • Creates and maintains documentation that supports the running of the daily infrastructure operations.
  • Conduct technical research and make recommendations to management.
  • Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree In Information Technology or other related discipline and 14 years' experience in infrastructure background. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 18 years' experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of being in a lead position.
  • Ability and comfort to assign tasks to team members and manage the team to complete tasks on time and at budget.
  • Ability to review infrastructure design or process and pinpoint defects
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
