Job Summary |
The Department of Animal Sciences at Auburn University (www.auburn.edu) is seeking applications for an Outreach Programs Administrator to oversee a Natural Resources Conservation Service (
NRCS) Conservation Innovation Grant (
CIG) focused on promoting the adoption of methane-mitigating practices in beef cattle operations across the state of Alabama. The individual selected for this position will serve as the central coordinator, ensuring the success of the grant's initiatives by fostering relationships with farmers, leading outreach efforts, and providing strong organizational leadership. This is a 4-year, limited term appointment. Continued employment will be contingent upon availability of funds.

Essential Functions |
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop, implement, and manage Conservation Innovation Grant focused on promoting the adoption of methane-mitigating practices in beef cattle operations across Alabama; coordinate activities with project partners, stakeholders, and Natural Resources Conservation Service to ensure program goals are met; monitor project progress, track key metrics, and provide regular updates to funders and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Alabama beef cattle producers to promote methane-mitigating practices.
- Identify and enroll farmer cooperators for a grant focused on adoption of pasture and nutritional management practices in Alabama beef cattle operations.
- Plan and conduct farm visits, workshops, and field days to demonstrate the benefits of proposed practices; serve as a resource for farmers, addressing questions and providing technical support.
- Develop quarterly grant reports and program summaries for the project as required by the funding agency.
- Develop educational resources on methane mitigation practices that can be used at educational and stakeholder meetings, including web-based materials with Extension and social media.
- Deliver presentations to diverse audiences, including producers, industry professionals, and academic collaborators.
- Serve as a liaison between the research project leaders and farmer cooperators.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I: Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, or a related field; no experience required.
Level II: Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services.
Level
III: Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, or a related field and 4 years of experience in the design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
- Proven experience in program management, preferably within agricultural or environmental initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with farmers and other stakeholders.

Minimum Technology Skills |
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools. |
Minimum License and Certifications |
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Alabama. |

- Experience with USDA NRCS programs or other federal grants.
