Respiratory Care Technician

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Respiratory Care Technician
  • Hourly Pay Range: $19.31 - $28.00. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL
  • Part Time: Per Diem
  • Hours: Days, Between the hours of (7am - 7:30pm), Rotating weekends

What you will do:

Reporting to the Director of Respiratory Care/Neurodiagnostics, the Respiratory Care Technician performs basic respiratory therapy techniques, equipment cleaning, maintenance, and basic diagnostic procedures under clinical guidance of staff Respiratory Therapists.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and treat all age groups of patients from pediatric to geriatric.
  • Administers all forms of respiratory therapy including medical gases, medication delivery via the airways, pressure breathing treatments, breathing retraining, aerosol and humidity therapy. Understands the equipment, indications, contraindications, hazards, and adverse reactions of each mode of therapy.
  • Consults with physician and instructs patients, families, and hospital personnel in respiratory therapy techniques and equipment use under the guidance of the staff Respiratory Therapist.
  • Initiates and maintains the appropriate records in the patient chart and on respiratory care records.
  • Cleans, repairs, and maintains respiratory therapy equipment; maintains appearance of the department.
  • Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.

What you will need:

  • Education: Must be currently attending, in good standing, an AMA approved school of respiratory therapy with successful completion of at least half of program, i.e. 1 year of 2 year program or 2 years of 4 year program
  • Certification: Current CPR certification.
