THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS) is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and experienced individual to fill the position of Director of Social Rehabilitative Services, Mental Health. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Director of Social and Rehabilitative Services, you will provide professional planning for social and rehabilitation services working closely with the Bureau Director. You will provide clinical direction and implementation of therapeutic services for adjudicated youth within BJJS's Youth Development Center/Youth Forestry Camp facilities. You will also directly supervise the regional Licensed Psychologist Directors and have indirect oversight of all clinical positions within BJJS. This role requires effective communication to participate in contract negotiations, policy interpretation, and policy development, as well as to represent BJJS at collaborative meetings with state agencies, courts, community-based organizations, and various human service stakeholders. In addition, you will development system-wide strategies to address quality assurance, complete investigations, administer disciplinary case conferences, and ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and DHS confidentiality guidelines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

  • You will work at the BJJS worksite that is closest to your home. Possible work locations are available in Allegheny, Luzerne, Dauphin, Franklin, Huntingdon, Montour, Montgomery, Perry, and Philadelphia counties.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of professional experience administering, managing, or providing direct services in human services or inpatient service delivery, which includes two years of experience in the field of mental health or in working with clients with mental health or cognitive deficits, and two years of professional supervisory experience; and four years of paraprofessional experience in social or behavioral sciences, occupational, physical or recreational therapy, speech pathology, education, nursing, health care management or health care administration, or a related field; or
  • Five years of professional experience administering, managing, or providing direct services in human services or inpatient service delivery, which includes two years of experience in the field of mental health or in working with clients with mental health or cognitive deficits, and two years of professional supervisory experience; and a bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, occupational, physical or recreational therapy, speech pathology, education, nursing, health care management or health care administration, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of professional experience administering, managing, or providing direct services in the field of mental health or working with clients with mental health or cognitive deficits, and two years of professional supervisory experience.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
