The National Safety Council is America's leading nonprofit safety advocate. We focus on eliminating the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths. Through leadership, research, education, and advocacy, NSC focuses on areas where most unintentional injuries and deaths occur.

We are currently looking for a Director, MSD Solutions Lab to join us in our mission to save lives and prevent injuries.

Position Highlights:
Initiates and drives strategy for programs aligned with the organization's strategic objectives,
consistently challenging the status quo to enhance impact and effectiveness. Oversees and ensures
that the functions of those being managed are not only efficiently executed but continuously refined
and improved to achieve the highest standards of performance and innovation. Encourages a culture
of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning, pushing the team to think critically, set
ambitious goals, and exceed expectations. Collaborates cross-functionally (marketing, comms,
training, consulting, convening, operations, finance) to translate program and product assets into
value-added outputs, establish rigorous metrics and standards, and ensure programs meet and
exceed their goals.

What You'll Do:
Project / Knowledge Management
  • Define and drive program strategy, including comprehensive assessment, governance structures,strategic frameworks, and KPIs, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and impactobjectives.
  • Stay at the forefront of public policy, legislative and regulatory trends, and scientific research,proactively integrating emerging insights into program strategy and execution.
  • Ensure strategic cohesion, aligning the team's projects with overarching program goals,optimizing efficiency, and maximizing impact.
  • Lead program planning and execution, contributing to the development of timelines that driveaccountability, efficiency, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop and implement high-impact marketing and lead generation strategies in collaborationwith the marketing team, ensuring broad reach and engagement.
  • Partner with cross-functional support teams to define, communicate, and optimize service needs,ensuring seamless collaboration and resource alignment.
  • Champion a data-driven, evidence-based approach, ensuring all collected knowledge is rigorouslysynthesized, organized, and leveraged to inform program direction and continuous improvement.
Outreach
  • Expand reach and impact by strategically promoting NSC programs, products, and services tounderserved and untapped audiences, ensuring broad accessibility and engagement.
  • Establish thought leadership by authoring high-impact articles, blogs, and other content for print anddigital platforms, positioning NSC as a trusted industry authority.
  • Collaborate in designing and executing dynamic events, discussion forums, and workshops that driveengagement, foster meaningful dialogue, and advance NSC's mission.
  • Advocate and influence through innovative learning experiences, ensuring that educational initiativesare impactful, actionable, and aligned with industry needs.
  • Leverage deep consumer insights by actively engaging with target audiences, collecting real-timefeedback, and translating market intelligence into program enhancements.
  • Maximize brand presence and industry influence by representing NSC at trade shows and keyevents, fostering strategic partnerships, and expanding professional networks.
Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and strengthen strategic relationships across all levels-peers, supervisors, funders, andstakeholders-to drive alignment, secure support, and accelerate program impact.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, actively valuing diverse perspectives, leadershipstyles, and stakeholder input to enhance decision-making and innovation.
  • Drive transparency and alignment by proactively relaying critical information, building consensus,and ensuring stakeholders are informed of key developments, program milestones, and measurableoutcomes.
  • Maximize synergy across NSC initiatives, campaigns, and departments, identifying strategic opportunitiesfor cross-collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and broader dissemination of impactfulwork.
We're Looking for Someone with:
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, business, technology, or a related discipline required
    • Master's degree related to the above disciplines preferred.
  • 12 years of working experience in the environmental, health, safety, and/or sustainabilityfield, with progressive responsibility. Experience as the leader of an organization's EHSor sustainability group/department preferred.
  • Experience in the delivery of information/communication to large audiences as well as high-level stakeholders, including boards, conference attendees, etc.
  • Experience in research, development and delivery preferred.

  • This is a remote position.
  • Salary is $120,000.
