Strategic Partnerships Fellow (GWU)

Save the Children
United States, D.C., Washington
899 North Capitol Street Northeast (Show on map)
Apr 11, 2025
Description

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Fellow to support our work in Multilateral and Strategic Partnerships. The Fellow will contribute to donor and influence mapping across multilateral organizations, including International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and UN agencies. Additionally, the Fellow will help map potential multi-sector partnerships of interest to Save the Children.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Impact):

  • Mapping Pooled Mechanisms (IFI Trust Funds):
IFI and UN Trust Funds (TFs) are financing arrangements supported by one or more development partners. Many of these often fund research or pilot projects in countries where governments cannot access direct funding from IFIs. The Fellow will conduct a desk review to map relevant IFI and UN TFs and assess their strategic alignment with Save the Children US's work (geographically, thematically, etc.). This will inform potential opportunities for advocacy, technical collaboration, and operational partnerships.

  • Desk Review of Multi-Sector Partnerships:
The Fellow will conduct a desk review on the landscape of multi-sector partnerships relevant to Save the Children US's work (specific issue area TBD). The goal is to produce a comprehensive report offering insights into existing models, identifying best practices, and providing recommendations for forming effective cross-sector collaborations.

Training & Professional Development:

The Fellow will have access to our internal learning management system (LMS), Kaya, which offers hundreds of training courses for personal and professional development.

Key Outcomes:

By the end of the fellowship, the Fellow will have:

  1. Comprehensive Mapping Report:
A detailed desk review mapping relevant TFs and multi-sector partnerships, including a strategic analysis of which funds and partnerships align with Save the Children US's goals across the development-humanitarian nexus.
  2. Recommendations for Strategic Engagement:
A set of actionable recommendations on which TFs and multi-sector partnerships offer the best opportunities for advocacy, technical collaboration, and operational partnership.
  3. Increased Knowledge in Multi-Sector Partnerships:
A deeper understanding of the landscape of multi-sector collaborations, including best practices and challenges, with insights into how different sectors can collaborate effectively to achieve shared goals.
  4. Enhanced Research and Analytical Skills:
Strengthened abilities in conducting high-level research, synthesizing complex information, and presenting findings in a clear, actionable manner.
  5. Professional Development:
Exposure to the workings of international development, humanitarian response, partnerships, and donor relations, while gaining valuable experience in strategic mapping and report writing.
