Description

The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and transforming raw data into actionable insights to support decision-making processes. This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining data reports, dashboards, and other analytical content. The incumbent will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand business needs, define requirements, and deliver meaningful data solutions. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential.


Examples of Duties

70% Data Analysis and Reporting

  1. Gather, clean, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure data quality and integrity.
  2. Develop and maintain a variety of reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support business goals using platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  3. Conduct ad hoc data analysis and modeling to support business initiatives and answer key organizational questions.
  4. Utilize SQL and other query languages to retrieve, analyze, and manipulate data from relational databases.
  5. Create and document detailed specifications for data analysis projects to guide development and ensure consistency.

20% Administration & Support

  1. Work closely with business leaders, department heads, and end-users to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data insights.
  2. Educate stakeholders on the use and interpretation of data reports and dashboards to promote data-driven decision-making.
  3. Identify opportunities for improving data processes and analytical methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
10% Data Governance and Quality Assurance
  1. Promote adherence to data governance policies and best practices to ensure consistency and accuracy of data across the organization.
  2. Assist in the development and enforcement of data standards and procedures.
  3. Participate in ongoing reviews to ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.

Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  1. Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months) from the categories below:
    1. college coursework comparable to that in a field related to financial analysis/planning such as accounting, business administration, economics, finance, statistics, or a closely related field
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
      • 90-semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
      • Master's Degree equals four (4) years (48 months)
    2. work experience in developing financial or economic analyses, research designs, strategic plans, or data models.
