Location: Remote in California

We have an opportunity to join the Alliance as a Data Scientist II in the Data Analytics Department.



WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Reporting to the Advanced Analytics Manager, this position:



  • Supports the design and development of data-driven exploratory analysis, predictive models, and decision models to address business issues related to healthcare management and value-based payment models
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to perform program evaluation, ROI analysis, and contribute to project development in areas such as population health and risk adjustment
  • Provides technical expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data science methodologies while contributing to process improvements and best practices


ABOUT THE TEAM

Data Analytics manages the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and, using data science, provides Health reporting analytics and Advanced analytics. The data we collect, organize, and provide gives answers and insights that support our operation and guide future health care planning and optimization.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE



  • Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience delivering Shiny apps in production
  • Experience working on end-to-end generative AI and LLM projects
  • Working knowledge of regulations and guidelines related to Medicare and/or Medi-Cal

  • Knowledge of:


    • Python and/or R
    • Program evaluation methodologies and ROI analysis and/or A/B Testing
    • Statistical analysis, machine learning, and data science methodologies


  • Ability to:

    • Write clean, efficient, and reproducible code for data analysis and modeling
    • Develop data science tools for risk adjustment and program evaluation
    • Perform statistical analysis and interpret findings in a meaningful way
    • Quickly learn and apply knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal regulations and guidelines


  • Education and Experience:

    • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field and a minimum of three years of analytics experience in a healthcare setting, which included experience building and applying predictive models and performing programming using statistical software (a Bachelor's degree and two additional years of experience may substitute for the Master's degree); or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying




OTHER INFORMATION



  • We are in a hybrid work environment and we anticipate that the interview process will take place remotely via Microsoft Teams.
  • While some staff may work full telecommuting schedules, attendance at quarterly company-wide events or department meetings will be expected.
  • In-office or in-community presence may be required for some positions and is dependent on business need. Details about this can be reviewed during the interview process.


The full compensation range for this position is listed by location below.

The actual compensation for this role will be determined by our compensation philosophy, analysis of the selected candidate's qualifications (direct or transferrable experience related to the position, education or training), as well as other factors (internal equity, market factors, and geographic location).

Typical areas in Zone 1: Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles area, San Diego area

Typical areas in Zone 2: Fresno area, Bakersfield, Central Valley (with the exception of Sacramento), Eastern California, Eureka area

Zone 1 (Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz)
$109,101.38 - $174,574.40 USD
Zone 2 (Mariposa and Merced)
$99,282.64 - $158,870.40 USD

Available for all regular Alliance employees working more than 30 hours per week. Some benefits are available on a pro-rated basis for part-time employees. These benefits are unavailable to temporary employees while on an assignment with the Alliance.
