Summary of Job Duties:The Post Doctoral Fellow will focus on clinical spinal and neurosurgical research. Qualifications:

Doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or MD) in medicine, biomedical sciences, pharmacology, physiology, molecular biology, or related field required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.

  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language is necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.

  • Track record of productivity with peer-reviewed publications.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts research as outlined with minimal supervision in funded and proposed grant applications under the direction and mentorship of the Principal Investigator or Collaborators.

  • Develops or modifies research protocols and collects background information for ongoing and future experiments and grant projects.

  • Troubleshoots new and existing experimental approaches and makes recommendations for research refinement and protocol development.

  • Maintains proper records of experiments in detail. Documents all experimental results, including photos where appropriate.

  • Maintains a safe work environment and safety training.

  • Maintains all necessary records for equipment, maintenance, use, etc. (this may include service contracts and scheduled maintenance visits).

  • Prepares publications and presents data in written and oral presentations.

  • Participates in preparing grant proposals and assists the Principal Investigator in these duties.

  • Proficiently prepares and processes new research proposals and amendments according to institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and federal regulations.

  • May participate in periodic site visits from sponsor agencies, regulatory authorities, and others to review research, source documentation, and research procedures.

  • Attends seminars and meetings as instructed or suggested by the mentor/supervisor.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
