This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable.

As a Systems Engineering Manager on New Glenn's Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA) team, you will share in the team's impact on all aspects of requirements, interfaces, verification, and qualification using systems engineering tools and processes to achieve the New Glenn program's mission to make human spaceflight accessible and affordable. You will be involved in system safety evaluations, risk management, test planning, technical performance measurement, problem resolution, and configuration and data management.

You will work with other systems engineering leaders within the program to achieve strong cross-functional collaboration ensuring the achievement of streamlined and more efficient work-flows, improved communication, and on-time scope completion. In close coordination with these groups, you will also provide recommendations into the development, improvement, and implementation of core systems engineering processes and tools. A core responsibility is to deliver systems engineering products for on schedule, within budget and to New Glenn standards and processes. This can only be accomplished by demonstrating strong systems engineering knowledge and providing mentorship to your team of individual contributors.

This role is a vital part of our team concurrently managing multiple life-cycle states including: requirements flow-down, preliminary and critical design, product realization, testing, verification, system integration, qualification, certification, delivery, and operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for employee life cycle management including performance management, task/project management, training, and providing tools for career development for a team of 5-10 systems engineers.
  • Establishing, monitoring, documenting, and improving systems engineering processes for the program.
  • Maintain alignment between our team's schedule with the schedules of subsystems.
  • Being a non-advocate authority (SME) for programs during reviews and failure investigations.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and reporting systems safety products, fault trees, reliability, component level failure mode assessments, and operational hazards.
  • Coordinate the systems engineering and gated review roadmap in collaboration with the program managers and Chief Engineers.
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges.
  • Establish, track, evaluate and report on relevant systems engineering process and product metrics, and technical performance measures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or other technical field
  • 8+ years of proven experience in systems engineering, analysis, operations, or testing on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or in other highly regulated industries
  • Current technical experience in Avionics
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Self-directed and able to balance several tasks at one time
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor junior systems engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration in a diverse work environment, self-starter
  • Experience with DOORS or other requirements management software
  • Experience in the development, execution and facilitation of project plans, managing risks and resolving blocking issues
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree (M.S., M.E.) or higher in Systems Engineering or related field
  • Experience in project and program management
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle or space vehicle design and operations
  • Experience with anomaly investigations
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 or other scheduling software
  • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
  • 5+ years of managing individual contributors or projects and programs

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $164,085.00-$229,719.00;WA applicants is $178,452.00-$249,832.80
