This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, specialists, and technicians, you will lead systems engineering, test, and launch operations efforts for recurring production and launch, and for the development of new capabilities for the New Glenn's Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations (GS2PA). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Technical lead for system engineering, test, and launch operations for existing systems and the development of new capabilities for GS2PA.
- Work across all GS2PA subsystems to execute complex trades and analyses and support integrated solutions to develop new capabilities.
- Lead the development, allocation, and verification of requirements for these solutions.
- Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the alignment and consistent implementation of New Glenn system engineering, test, and launch operations practices within GS2PA.
- Develop health metrics to support insight into program health and tracking to major milestones.
- Lead gated reviews and support New Glenn program and element level gated reviews.
- Lead the development of the product operations through the integrated testing and operations lifecycle
- Create documentation and requirements for how to operate a launch vehicle
- Support development of integrated operational software, including those used for Built-In-Tests, Propellant Loading, Terminal Count, and flight
- Support the creation of operating requirements across vehicle subsystems
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and appropriate integration of operating requirements
- Support procedure development to accurately incorporate operating requirements
- Review procedures, scripts, and displays used during vehicle operations
- Assess, identify and support fixes to gaps in the concept of vehicle operations
- Lead the GS2PA engineering team during integrated testing and launch operations and provide time-critical anomaly resolution decisions to disposition the pedigree of the flight hardware for safe and successful launch.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or other technical field.
- 8+ years of proven experience in systems engineering, test, and launch operations on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or in other highly regulated industries.
- Hands-on experience in developing, authoring, and executing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles
- Experience with cryogenics, pneumatics, and rocket engine systems
- Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems.
- Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor junior systems engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration in a diverse work environment, self-starter.
- Experience with DOORS or other requirements management software.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion .
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management or Technical Team Lead of a system engineering, test, or launch operations team or equivalent.
- Experience with space vehicle or satellite integration with launch vehicles.
- Experience working with government agencies.
- Experience in testing; systems safety; or reliability, maintainability and operability analysis and execution.
- Knowledgeable about system design and analysis and relationships to element design and operations at the flight and ground levels.
- Knowledge of the entire product life cycle including ground equipment and operations, manufacturing, test, and fielded operations.
Compensation Range for: CO applicants is $129,611.00-$181,454.70;WA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25
