ABOUT THE ROLE

The North America Home Fragrance team is seeking an Associate Manager, Packaging Engineer to support and develop aerosol products, including compressed gas base aerosols and liquified petroleum gas (LPG) large automatic aerosols. Glade aerosols are a major business in North America, with base aerosols introducing consumers to the Air Care aisle and large automatic aerosols having a loyal following.

As Associate Manager, you'll be the subject matter expert (SME) driving aerosol technical leadership through evolution of our current formats. You'll build capabilities alongside the current SME during a comprehensive onboarding and training program, with the objective of becoming the new NACB HF aerosol packaging SME.

You will apply current and emerging technologies to identify, develop and drive effective product design.Additionally, you will contribute to the technical development & qualification of new or revised packaging materials & products.You will partner with key internal and external stakeholders and business partners to solve technical challenges. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise to achieve project objectives, strategic initiatives, and growth goals. It is also crucial that you remain current with the latest technology to effectively and efficiently impact your portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead End to End packaging development for North America Home Fragrance projects, covering primary, secondary, and ecommerce packaging.

  • Provide functional leadership on growth, business continuity, sustainability, and cost-saving initiatives, adhering to established technical processes and procedures.

  • Ensure timely and complete delivery of technical deliverables.

  • Develop packaging solutions that meet both internal and external customer needs.

  • Coach and mentor other Packaging Engineers in North America.

  • Lead or participate in packaging and process improvement workstreams.

  • Collaborate proactively with project managers and cross-functional teams to build project timelines, achieve key milestones, address technical risks, and identify new ways of working.

  • Develop and execute test plans, perform lab tests, present data in technical reviews, and document results in technical reports.

  • Generate robust specifications for packaging components, finished goods, bills of materials, and pallet factors.

  • Provide technical expertise and critical thinking to resolve technical issues.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering disciplines and 6+ of product/packaging development experience, OR Master's degree with 4+ years relevant work experience.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Prior mentoring experience

  • Strong team player and results driven.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and effective storytelling.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and problem-solving abilities, including anticipation and communication of risks and mitigation plans.

  • Strategic thinking and action-oriented to effectively navigate complex, ambiguous situations.

  • Strong technical expertise in multiple packaging disciplines such as aerosols and other dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, and/or plastic molding techniques.

  • Knowledge of Ecommerce Packaging Design and Qualification.

  • Knowledge of US DOT Regulations related to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

  • Knowledge of Special Packs and the Warehouse Club Class of Trade.

  • Experience with AI (Artificial Intelligence).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Full time Mon to Fri and will be located at Sam's campus in Mt. Pleasant.

  • Remote work available once a week for eligible employees.

  • Up to 15% travel, primarily domestic.

  • Ability to lift 10 - 40 pounds.

  • This role is eligible for domestic relocation.
